Appraisal

Arlington House was constructed in two periods; an early 18th century house to the rear, with later 18th century house to the front, with pedimented centre-piece. The building functioned as a school during the late 19th century. Following over twenty years of dereliction, the building is now a shell. On account of its history, its architectural design and its prominent location in the centre of the town adjoining the River Barrow and bridge and its severly derelict current condition, the building urgently requires efforts to identify a path towards its restoration and appropriate new use.

Recommended Use

  • Suitable for community use or residential conversion
