Legacies

Would you consider leaving a gift in your will to support Ireland’s environment? You can read this lovely piece by Eric Conroy, one of our wonderful long-standing members contemplating his 40 years of being involved with An Taisce and what the charity has meant for him over those decades.

An Taisce has been fortunate in receiving a number of gifts / bequests over the years from members and supporters. They have ranged from properties to sums of cash – large and small. We appreciate them all.

Once you have looked after your loved ones, a gift in your will is a wonderful way to help protect and enhance the landscapes, nature and heritage buildings that so enrich our lives.

There is a saying that “the best time to plant a tree is twenty years ago. The second best time is now.” You could choose to leave a percentage of your estate, a residue or a specific amount.

How?

Once you have provided for your loved ones, add one of these amendments (codicil) or similar to your will. You can also contact us to receive our legacy pack.

Sample text and Information for your Will

“I give to of An Taisce; Charity No. CHY 4741, all [or a fraction] of the residue of my estate whatsoever and wheresoever, and I direct that the receipt of the Board of An Taisce shall be sufficient discharge to my Executors.”

For a Residuary Bequest:

“As to all the rest residue, and remainder of my Estate of whatsoever nature and whatsoever situate, I give devise and bequeath the same to An Taisce; Charity No. CHY 4741, for the general charitable purposes of said organisation, and the receipt of the Board of An Taisce shall be sufficient discharge to my Executors."

For a Pecuniary Bequest:

“To the Board for the time being of An Taisce; Charity No. CHY 4741, I give and bequeath the sum of: euros (amount in words) or I bequeath (the item(s) specified) for the general charitable purposes for use by An Taisce, and the receipt of the Board of An Taisce shall be sufficient discharge to my Executors.”

Sean Mulcahy, a tribute

An Taisce has recently been the grateful recipient of a bequest from the estates of Sean and Rosemarie Mulcahy. The Mulcahys were artists and longtime supporters of the work of the organisation. Rosemarie was a former Honorary Secretary of An Taisce. Our thanks to their family for this generous gift which will greatly assist us in our work.
