About Us Who We Are Council Council An Taisce Council is a national forum for joined-up environmental and heritage policy development by volunteers. Council has a role in governing the charity because it appoints and dismisses the charity's Trustees and represents members' interests between AGMs. Council also elects volunteers annually as the Chair and Vice Chair of An Taisce, and the Speaker of Council. Council is made up of the President and the former Presidents, the Chair of An Taisce, the Vice-Chairperson, the Secretary, delegates of our Local Associations, members elected at the AGM, representatives of our policy committees, and co-opted members. All members of Council are members of An Taisce. You can see the current list of Council members below. By profession, they are artists, farmers, scientists, business people, activists, writers, historians, lawyers, conservationists, archaeologists, architects, and public health experts. An Taisce holds Council meetings five times a year.
