As a registered nominating body on the Cultural and Educational Panel for Seanad Éireann, An Taisce, the National Trust for Ireland, is currently preparing to nominate a candidate for the upcoming Seanad General Election. We are inviting expressions of interest from qualified individuals who may wish to be considered for our nomination.

We are seeking candidates with a demonstrable track record of action and advocacy in areas that align with our objectives, including environmental education and protection, heritage conservation, and the promotion of sustainable development.

An Taisce Seanad Nominee Application Process

We invite interested candidates to submit the following:

1. A one-page document outlining their qualifications, achievements, and how their work aligns with An Taisce’s vision and values.
2. A brief statement on their commitment to representing the Cultural and Educational Panel’s ethos and priorities.

The deadline for submissions is December 13th, to ensure adequate time for review and deliberation before the official nomination deadline on December 18th. Submissions should be sent to [email protected].

An Taisce Seanad Nominee Selection Process

The final decision will be made by vote of An Taisce’s Board and Council, following a review of all applications. 

While An Taisce has a longstanding policy of remaining non-partisan and refraining from endorsing political parties or individuals, this nomination process is an important exception to ensure strong representation of the issues we champion.
